Drakelow House is a Victorian house in Heaton Moor that’s been converted into a care home for the elderly. Owner Gloria Patton came to me looking for a simple, easy to manage website and a logo.
In my initial meeting with Gloria and her team I noticed some of the architectural features in Drakelow House. There are some really lovely stained glass windows and the ceilings are absolutely beautiful so I used the ceiling design as inspiration for the new logo.
The finished logo can be separated into several decorative elements which could potentially be used in other marketing materials. The logo can also be locked together to form a repeating pattern which would work well as a background.
I made the website deliberately simple and easy to read and scan because quite often people who become residents look for their own care. I didn’t want to risk any confusion so on this site I haven’t used a hamburger menu. This means that menu items occupy a large space at the top of the screen. To make sure this didn’t become an issue I put a ‘skip to content’ link at the top of the site so that people can jump beyond the navigation and get straight to the content.Visit the website
