Mothax are an independent IT security consultancy based in Furness Vale, High Peak. The business is run by Gareth Watkin-Jones, an experienced security consultant and network penetration tester.
Gareth approached me to create a new website for his growing business. He was keen to use his existing branding but wanted to try and avoid the cliches which seemed to be prevalent in most security industry websites.
When I first met up with Gareth he had an old ZX Spectrum computer sitting happily in the corner of his office, and this sparked the idea to use a retro computing style for the basis of his new site. Each section is colour coded, with a palette derived from a popular code editor and I also introduced a small binary symbol to reflect the first letter of each navigation item. That’s a fun little nod to the technological and slightly geeky aspects of the industry.
The home page has a panel style menu which quickly explains what’s in each section and this is reflected in the projects section and the blog. There are very few images on the site but where they do appear they’re in SVG format so they look nice and crisp on any kind of display.
As well as the website I also produced a new business card and rebranded some of Gareth’s document templates.Visit the website
